Special Collections in Western Languages

The collections are composed of the books in western languages which are published in the early years or with some special significance, the collection of oriental studies beginning with O which was published before 1980, part of the Deutschland-Institut (1931-1946, a cultural institution with Chinese and German scholars' participation) collection, part of Chinois-Franco University (1919-1950) collection mainly composed of the French books of the School of Literature, China-related Microfilms & Microfiches in British and American Diplomatic Archives, and so on.

Rare Books in Western Languages

Description: Rare books in western languages published before 1800, or with some special significance.

Note: Open to PKU faculty members and graduate students, materials can only be read within the room; open to outside readers restrainedly

Description: Collection of oriental studies beginning with O which was published before 1980. This collection is mainly composed of the Yenching University library.

Description: Historical diplomatic archives about Anglo American and China, e.g. Confidential British Foreign Office Political Correspondences, China: 1906-1941 985 volumes, Confidential U.S. State Department Central Files Chinese Domestic Affairs (1930-1966), Chinese Foreign Affairs (1950-1963), 394 volumes in total.
