The Reading Marathon aims to motivate the reading interest in classics of different disciplines. Adopting the form of “online discussion and offline salon”, the activity has constructed a stereoscopic reading model with the internet, in order to foster the independent reading abilities of students with interest. Peking University Library has held three Reading Marathons since 2017, each of which has invited top scholars from various fields as the reading leader. The open, deep and cross-disciplinary reading salons were completed successfully with the joint efforts from both professors and students. Readers engaged in the activities by sharing reading reflection, writing reading notes online and joining reading salon for face-to-face discussion with professors.
