A Guide to the Core Journals of China is a research project conducted by Peking University Library and participated by a dozen other university libraries as well as experts of related institutions. The research achievements were published in printed books, and, up to now, there have been 10 editions published by Peking University Press: 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023. It aims to serve the libraries and information service institutions as informational references with which the librarians purchase and reserve books. It can also be used as a tutor to reading. The research combines quantitative with qualitative evaluation based on the subject of papers published on the journals, selecting core journals from published Chinese journals in China. The project research has been ongoing, and the research result A Guide to the Core Journals of China has been regularly updated every three years since 2008 according to the dynamic development of journals in China.

The annual reading report not only reflects the resource utilization in the Library by diverse kinds of readers, but also puts central focus on students, the core user group of the library. Based on the basic service data of the Library, the report is developed by extensive collection and research to fully understand the reading habits and characteristics of our students. It strives for an objective, comprehensive and vivid reflection of students’ habits and preferences in reading.

Library Newsletter is an exciting compilation of news about Peking University Library. The newsletter is regularly published with the aim of documenting important and top news about the library. By reporting on innovative library activities, updated service, and current affairs, it brings comprehensive and fascinating updates of the library to the readers.

Based on the disciplines of Peking University, series of reports on subject competitiveness of Peking University have been completed. The reports analyzed the subject competitiveness of Peking University and provided bibliometric analysis and scientific evaluation indicators for the support of the development of various disciplines in Peking University.

The goal of the service is to analyze and publish the research frontiers and hot topics of various disciplines in Chinese universities. Based on various data sources, including paper published recently, the numbers of papers downloaded and cited, users’ retrieval data, users’ focus data etc. The reports provide references for the development of various disciplines.
