Peking University Library delves deep into the aesthetic education of various disciplines, stimulates students' interests in different subjects and enhances their overall qualities. It initiated the lecture series "The Beauty of Disciplines," which is specifically designed for students of Peking University.
ZOU JIN ZHONG GUO SHU FA
In 1917, Peking University witnessed the birth of the first calligraphy club among comprehensive universities in China, known as the Peking University Calligraphy Research Society. In 1918, Wang Cenbo, a librarian at Peking University, published the first modern history of calligraphy in China, titled "A History of Calligraphy Studies." For over a century, Peking University has been actively involved in calligraphy and the study of its history from the perspectives of aesthetic education and interdisciplinary research, making unique contributions to the history of Chinese calligraphy education.
Starting in 2022, Peking University Library proudly introduces the series of academic lectures titled " Exploring Chinese Calligraphy." These lectures focus on the history and theory of Chinese calligraphy, aiming to promote aesthetic education for students from various disciplines at Peking University. The series also caters to both theoretical exploration and academic research in the field of Chinese calligraphy.
ZHONG HUA CHUAN TONG YI SHU ZHI MEI
The library collaborates with Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture (Kunqu Opera) Heritage Base to organize a series of lectures and activities entitled "The Beauty of Chinese Traditional Art." Various experts from different fields are invited to guide students in interpreting and appreciating the beauty of Chinese traditional art. These events aim to promote the inheritance and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage, such as Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, Yue Opera, and ancient qin music.
