In an era of glodalization, along with the convergence of artificial intelligence, cinema serves as a vital medium through which we explore technology, culture and the destiny of human beings.
The third event of the “When Cinema Meets AI: A Journey into Human-Machine Symbiosis” screening series, part of the 22nd Peking University International Culture Festival, will be jointly presented by the Peking University Office of International Relations and the Yuanpei College Underground Cinema.
In this event, we invite you to a special screening of Spike Jonze's acclaimed film, Her. We will journey into the imagination and prophetic insights this sci-fi classic, made over a decade ago, offers about the AI age.

Set in a near-future backdrop, the lonely writer Theodore develops a unique emotional bond with an AI operating system named Samantha. Equipped with highly advanced emotional and intellectual capabilities, Samantha engages in profound conversations and interactions with Theodore.
Through this unconventional human-AI relationship, the film delves into themes such as human emotion, loneliness, intimacy, and the impact of technology on interpersonal connections. From an intimate emotional perspective, it portrays possible scenarios of AI integration into human life, prompting audiences to reflect on the boundaries between human and machine emotions.
