Peking University Library in-Building Dining Management Measures (Trial)

1.In order to protect the library's literary assets, prevent book damage, insect and rodent infestations, and address security concerns, maintain public order, and create a clean and tidy library environment, these management measures are hereby established in alignment with relevant regulations and in consideration of practical requirements.

2.Eating is strictly prohibited in the library building.

3.If library users bring food into the library, it must be properly sealed in non-transparent bags and kept out of the public's view. Food items that are prone to spilling or have strong odors are not allowed in the library.

4.Non-alcoholic beverages that carry no odors and are stored in sealed containers that are not easily spilled may be consumed within the designated sections of the Library. Water containers provided by the library may only be used in designated sections.

5.Beverage consumption is subject to the following sectional management:

a.Beverage consumption is strictly prohibited in the following areas: the stackroom, various reading room bookshelves, the Ancient Literature reading room, the Famous Scholars reading room, and Da Zhao reading room.

b.Areas where only water consumption is allowed: Science Report Hall, Art Appreciation Hall, Exhibition Hall.

c.Areas where beverage consumption is allowed: All other areas except the aforementioned sections

6.When not in use, beverages should be sealed in their containers and stored safely to prevent spills. If a spill occurs, please immediately inform Library staff for cleanup (telephone: 62761003). If the spill causes damage to books and facilities, compensation is required in accordance with the Library's rules and regulations.

7.Empty beverage containers and other waste should be securely sealed and placed in designated trash bins. In cases where food and beverages are not in compliance with the regulations and are brought into or left in restricted areas, library staff are authorized to clean or dispose them at any time.

8.Any library user has the right to advise and discourage behaviors that violate these rules. If the advice is not heeded and actions have a negative influence, the library will publish a notice of criticsm and inform the relevant authorities. The relevant authorities will take actions in accordance with the relevant university regulations.

9.These measures are to be interpreted by the library and will be implemented from the date of approval. In cases where there are inconsistencies between these measures and previous library regulations, these measures will take precedence.
